Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Have you ever seen videos of mama kangaroos and their joeys? We love how the mamas just go about their business, with their joeys hanging out of their pouch. Did you know that sometimes mama kangaroos will welcome and carry around joeys that are not their own babies? We think that our incredible girl Vermillion may have a little FOMO when it comes to the relationship that joeys have with their mamas- she wants to be that close to her person! Volunteers ADORE her, with one sharing:
“Vermilion is a calm and sweet lover baby. She was calm and gentle in her kennel and sat so nicely to be leashed up, even waiting patiently while I cleaned up the kennel before we headed out. She walked very nicely down the aisle, ignoring all of the other dogs. Once in the play yard she was eager to play with her kennelmate, chasing her around and enticing her to play. In between play sessions, she would come over to me and snuggle in as close as she could get. At one point I was kneeled on the ground and she completely melted into me! She is so funny and believes that she actually only weighs 10 lbs. Another time I was sitting on the bench and she made herself as small as possible so she could curl all 60 lbs into my lap. This girl is perfection!! I think in another life she may have been a kangaroo, as she seemed to wish she was a joey, curled up in my pouch!”
Vermilion has gone on a couple of day trips and gotten great reviews:
“Vermilion said “hi” to a lot of college students and was very nice. She was timid at first but really opened up. She loves being outside and active! She’s super cuddly and wants attention; she wants to be next to you constantly.”
“Vermilion is so sweet and will 100% be attached to you at the hip.”
Vermilion’s friends described her as an excited, energetic, and curious girl who is sociable and fun, walks well on leash, likes to run, is housebroken, knows tricks, and can be a big ‘ol couch potato.
Vermilion shares her kennel with another PACC pup and is a playgroup regular who has been playful and social when meeting other dogs.
While you may not have known this, you can actually own a kangaroo in Arizona, but a permit is required and you must comply with the state`s exotic animal laws. That sounds like a lot of work! If you’re looking for a simpler way to get your very own snuggly joey, Vermilion volunteers to be your very own Velcro dog! Come meet her today!
