Bagel is a charming orange and white bobtail cat with a personality as unique as their little tail. He was born around 4/27/25, and came in with a big group of siblings, all of them very underweight and in need of a fresh start. But Bagel is a fighter — and is already on the road to recovery. He will likely need lifelong special care.
Sweet, curious, and full of quiet affection, Bagel is quickly learning that the world isn’t such a scary place when you’re safe, warm, and loved. Whether it’s cuddling up with their siblings or exploring cozy corners, Bagel is soaking in the comfort of a life filled with care.
This special little cat is ready for a forever home where they can continue to grow, thrive, and be cherished. If you’re looking for a gentle soul with a quirky bobtail and a heart full of love, Bagel is waiting to meet you.

More about this shelter
The Gateway Area Humane Society was established in 1982 with a deep commitment to protecting and improving the lives of animals in our community. In the early years, we operated without a physical facility, focusing our efforts on neglect and cruelty investigations, follow-ups, and rescuing animals from county shelters and directly from the public. Even then, our goal was clear: to provide care, compassion, and second chances to animals in need.
Over the years, we've grown into a full-service organization with a shelter and spay/neuter clinic, allowing us to expand our impact. We house both dogs and cats with the hope of helping them find their forever homes. We occasionally partner with out-of-state rescues to further our mission.
At the heart of everything we do is the belief that the only long-term solution to pet overpopulation is to promote spaying and neutering in every way possible. Through community education, accessible services, and dedicated rescue work, we remain committed to creating a safer, more compassionate world for animals—one pet at a time.
