My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A Clue! A Clue! It’s Bluey!

Hi there, friend! Guess what? We found a clue… and it’s a happy, wiggly, 8-month-old pup named Bluey! She’s about 40 pounds of pure joy and tail wags.

Let’s figure out what makes Bluey the perfect forever friend:

Clue #1: She loves people and dogs—big ones, small ones, all of them! Her favorite game is fetch, but she also loves romping and playing with other pups.

Clue #2: She lives with kids, dogs, and even cats! While she’s a little too curious for the kitties, she’s never mean—just very interested in what they’re up to.

Clue #3: She’s learning so many things right now—potty training, basic commands, and even how to run on a leash with her teenage foster sister. What a smart girl!

And guess what? Bluey is a crate sleeper at night and naps there during the day when needed. She’s full of energy and playfulness, so she’d love an active family (bonus points if there’s another dog to play with).

But here’s the best part—when she’s not playing fetch or zooming around the yard, Bluey can happily entertain herself with toys. She’s also a pretty quiet pup—more of an observer than a barker.

So, what’s the answer to today’s puzzle?
That’s right… Bluey is the sweetest, silliest pup who’s ready to be your new best friend!

Will you be the family who finds Bluey’s forever home?

Our standard adoption fee is $375 if paid by cash or check, or $385 if paid by credit card (which includes a $10 processing fee). This fee covers spay/neuter surgery when age appropriate at one of our participating veterinarians, age-appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative, and microchipping.

In order to be considered for adoption, we require a fully completed application, a phone interview, and a meet-and-greet with your entire family. Please note that submitting an application does not commit you to adopting and does not guarantee approval—it simply allows us to begin the review process.

If you are interested in adopting or would like additional information, please email us at adopt@safehavendogsIL.org to request an application.

Keep in mind that the breed and size listed in each dog's biography are our best educated guesses and are not guaranteed.

Safe Haven Dog Rescue reserves the right to refuse the adoption of any dog or puppy to any applicant for any reason.

More about this rescue

We are a small 501 C3 nonprofit rescue located in Elburn, Illinois. In 2014, Safe Haven Dog Rescue became its own non-profit. We are licensed by the Illinois Agriculture Department.

The majority of our dogs and puppies are pulled from Kill Pounds and Shelters in Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas, and Illinois. We also accept local medical cases as often as our finances will allow.

Please take a few moments to read the stories about the dogs and puppies we have available for adoption. We disclose everything we know about the dogs, sometimes we know a lot often we know only that they were strays, thrown away on the side of the road, in the woods, or found in abandoned houses.

While we don’t always know their past we are certain that their future is much brighter.

We hope that you and your family are part of the future…..
