My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

At just 10 months old, Benny came to us as part of an emergency rescue from shelters affected by the California wildfires in early March 2025. When he arrived, he was suffering from an untreated broken leg, which required extended care at our Pet Health Centers. As a result, Benny became very under-socialized and fearful.

In July, one of our incredible foster parents welcomed him into her home, and he has settled in better than we could have anticipated! His foster mom is working on building his confidence with the help of her resident dog—an ideal companion, since Benny absolutely loves other dogs.

Now, Benny is ready to find his forever home. He would do best with an experienced adopter and older children who can help him ease into his new surroundings. The perfect home would be in a suburban area with a large, fenced-in yard where he can safely explore and play with his new family.

A meet-and-greet is recommended for the entire household, including any potential canine siblings. If you’re interested in adopting or learning more about Benny, please contact us today!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

When you come down to NSALA an associate will help you figure out what kind of animal will do best in your situation. At that point they will take out the animals you are interested in so that you may get to know them. You will have plenty of time to play and interact with your new friend in our family friendly areas designated for that purpose. When you decide you want to adopt, an associate will help you fill out an application.

Our adoption fees are as follows:
Puppies (up to 6 months) $350
Adult Dogs (over 6 months) $100
Puppy Mill Rescues $250
Small Breed & Pure Breeds (over 6 months) $250
Kittens (up to 6 months) $100
