Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Charlie!
Charlie has not lived an easy or comfortable life.
His front teeth are filed down to the gums. Sometimes this can be from eating rocks, or chewing on the bars of a kennel but it's likely we will never know the cause. He was found in the yard of a newly bought house. After asking questions around the neighborhood, the new owners found out that he was left behind when the old owner moved out. That's when he was brought to the shelter. When we began doing some health screening to work on his teeth, they found out that he is also Heartworm positive.
A volunteer took pity on this sad boy and took him home to foster. After a round of antibiotics and pain killers, we realized that his teeth are functional and don't seem to cause him any pain when eating a diet of soft food. The vet agreed that the best course of action is to deal with any issues with his teeth as they arise.
Charlie has been undergoing his heartworm treatment like a champ! He got his last injection this week and will have a follow up appointment in a month to make sure that he is heartworm negative.
Charlie is around 7-8 years old and weighs in at just under 100 pounds. He's a chunky boy! He does fine with other laid back, friendly dogs and with a slow introduction has had no issues... ALTHOUGH he much prefers the company of cats of any age. Cats are his spirit animal and he loves to cuddle them. He has lived with kittens and senior cats and doesn't discriminate in his love for them. He is housebroken and doesn't have accidents inside. He prefers to be inside with his human and doesn't much like being outside. His current foster lives in an apartment and that life seems to suit him just fine.
Charlie has a nervous nature and doesn't do well on a leash or with new adventures. He prefers a life of routine, consistency and as little excitement as possible.
Charlie wants a boring life. A boring life full of love, snacking and tons and tons of snuggles. If this sounds like a life you can provide to this sweet boy, please reach out for a meeting!
