My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Lock: A Tiny TNR with a Big Heart and Baby-Faced Charm 🐾

Lock is an adorable little TNR kitten who's just beginning to discover that humans can be safe, gentle, and even kind. With his sweet baby face and expressive eyes, he’ll melt your heart—especially when he’s been gently scolded. He’ll tilt his head downward and peek up with the saddest little gaze, like a child caught sneaking cookies. It’s impossible to stay mad.

Though he’s still too shy to be held and remains wary of anyone beyond his trusted foster parents, Lock is making quiet, steady progress every day. He now allows gentle petting during mealtimes and chooses to sit just an arm’s length away on the sofa, keeping close without quite touching—unless it’s your laundry. He’s become a devoted snuggler of clothing, curling up in the scent of those he’s learning to love.

Lock is small for his age, much tinier than his siblings, but his spirit is mighty. He follows his foster around the house like a curious little shadow, eager to be near. He’s also working hard to make friends with the resident cats—he desperately wants to be part of the crew and is learning the delicate art of feline socializing.

Lock would thrive in a patient, cat-savvy home where he can continue to grow at his own pace. A home with other friendly cats would be ideal, giving him the companionship he craves and the gentle guidance he needs. If you’re ready to welcome a tender soul who’s still unfolding, Lock might just be the quiet miracle you’ve been waiting for.

Go meet their pets

Adoption events are held regularly in the community at Petco Winchester VA every other Saturday. Additional events are held at area festivals, wineries, breweries, and parks. Approved adopters can schedule a private meet and greet with their chosen pet. Same day adoptions are not done, so please apply in advance of any adoption event to give us time to check vet and personal references and to complete the video home visit.
