My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oscar (full name Oscar Pig Pen Montague) is a 7 year old gorgeous gray and white kitty. We aren't sure what Oscar went through before coming to us, but he clearly had been through a lot. He was found digging through trash in front of the Brooklyn Cat Cafe, super dirty and clearly having been through a rough time. After months of decompression and getting him healthy again, he's ready for a loving home!

When his foster first welcomed Oscar, he was quite nervous but was leaning into pets in no time. He tolerates his foster's very active toddler. He loves chasing his mouse toys and is very playful. Such an adorable boy! Once he's settled, he'll no doubt become an expert cuddler.

Oscar was rescued with dental issues and had surgery. We would be thrilled for a potential adopter to provide a larger adoption donation (between $250 and $400 total) and/or assistance crowdsourcing funds towards their necessary vet bills if possible.

This cat would prefer to be adopted alone and be the only cat in the home.

More about this rescue

Our rescue group was formed in December 2007, but all our Board Members have had extensive experience rescuing and working with abandoned animals. We often work with other rescue organizations to find appropriate and safe foster and adoptive homes for our pet clients. We regularly go to areas with abandoned animals and collect them. The animals are taken to a licensed veterinarian examined, treated and spayed or neutered. Every effort is made to work with the animal and our foster and adoptive families to find a suitable forever home.

For those animals who are truly wild and feral, we release the animal in a safe and secure location after it has recovered from its medical treatment. We also work with certified wildlife rehabilitators to rescue injured and orphaned wildlife. Our organization is focused on improving the welfare of the abandoned animals in need of help in Brooklyn. In furthering that goal, our resources are focused on the animals.

Aside from a few minimal overhead costs such as our website and phone services, our entire budget is spent on animal care such as medical and food costs.
