I may be 9 years old but don't let my age fool you! I've got plenty of energy and a lot of love to give! At 48 pounds, I'm heavier than I should be and I'm also taller than a typical beagle, which just means there's more of me to love. My foster human sister says she can squeeze me really hard and know she won't hurt me.
I'm looking for a forever family that can be my leader and my partner. I'm a smart, curious guy who needs someone to guide me, to help keep my good manners sharp, and cheer me on as I keep working toward my goal weight (fewer treats, more walks...I'm trying, I promise!)
I get along great with my 2 foster sister beagles and love to sniff around the yard with them or do a little running when the mood strikes. Car rides? Count me in! Couch cuddles? Absolutely! Walk around the neighborhood? My favorite - especially now that I've gotten so much better on the leash! I may still need some gentle, firm encouragement to keep improving, but I'm a quick learner and want to make my humans proud.
Oh, a little secret: I love stealing green beans from my foster mom's garden. She pretends to scold me but I think she secretly finds it cute.
My foster mom gives me a tablet every day to help me with my thyroid. It is very affordable and I take it like a champ. My new family just needs to make sure I keep up with my daily medication which I need to take for the rest of my life.
I'm potty trained, well behaved in the house, (but I don't like to be alone for very long) and I am ready to give my new family endless loyalty, laughter and love. If you are looking for a buddy who will be your walking and couch buddy and love you so much, I just may be your guy.
NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
