Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Rowan! He's 1 of 15 dogs that came into the shelter in early August as part of a neglect case. Rowan was starved and under-socialized, but through the care of staff and volunteers at CMHS, he is gaining confidence and trust in people again. Three square meals a day doesn’t hurt either! Rowan is very food-motivated and will happily sit for a treat. He has also been going out on day trips with volunteers to see the world and make friends.
His foster says “ Rowan was initially a bit skittish - very alert and curious with new noises. Thankfully, this only lasted a few hours at home and then he quickly settled in.
He loves attention and belly rubs and warms up quickly to people. So far he hasn’t really wanted to play with toys or balls. He is content to be with his people, get lots of pets and treats and enjoys rolling in the grass.
He has had no accidents in the house and seems to be a quick learner. He has learned to sit, lay down and is doing great with walking on leash.
He is a sweet boy who will be a wonderful addition to someone’s home.”
**Rowan is being treated for a skin infection while in shelter care. Ongoing monitoring for his skin will be needed with adopter's veterinarian, which could include further diagnostics and treatment. Underlying environmental or food allergies could be a cause and could require ongoing management.
Rowan has severe dental wear, particularly over the front incisors, and will need a dental with adopter's veterinarian if it hasn't been completed while in shelter care.

More about this shelter
Welcome to CMHS! In continuous operation since 1943, the Central Missouri Humane Society promotes the well-being of companion animals – pets that enrich the lives of the people who love them.
The Columbia Humane Society was formed in 1943 to provide shelter and care for Columbia’s abandoned animals. Originating in a little structure on Creasy Springs Road, the organization has grown into today’s Central Missouri Humane Society, a regional animal welfare agency caring for thousands of animals annually and providing veterinary services for low-income pet owners.
