Trip’s name may make you smile, but his beginning was anything but easy. He and his siblings were abandoned in the game lands, and heartbreakingly, three of them were hit by a car. Trip is one of the brave survivors, and he’s ready for a future filled with nothing but love.
Trip is happy-go-lucky, playful, and incredibly cuddly. He’s the kind of pup who brings joy wherever he goes. He loves to snuggle and thrives on being close to people. While he came to us a little unsure about fast movements or reaching hands, Trip is blossoming with patience and kindness. His confidence grows daily, and so does his love for people.
Trip’s DNA blend makes him extra special: Standard Poodle + American Pit Terrier, with Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Cocker Spaniel mixed in. Smart, sweet, and eager to please—Trip is ready to be your best friend for life.
Before completing an application, please take into consideration breed characteristics, puppy shenanigans, and estimated full-grown size.
• I am full of razor-sharp puppy teeth and LOVE to chew.
• I am not house trained or crate trained (but I’m working on it).
• I need daily exercise, playtime, and mental enrichment—not long hours confined in a crate.
• I require quality time to learn good manners, basic obedience, house training, and proper socialization.
• I’ve had a rough start in life and need a home committed to helping me learn what love and loyalty really mean.
• We place our dogs and puppies into homes that meet their specific needs.

Please note:
We cannot guarantee breed or breed mix, as our information is often limited to what is observed or shared by a previous owner.
Changes in environment may also affect behavior—so while we do our best to assess each dog, we cannot guarantee personality traits, temperament, or preferences.
All of our dogs are fully vetted, including:
• Spay or neuter
• Age-appropriate vaccinations
• Rabies vaccination
• Microchipping
• Heartworm and Lyme testing
• Deworming
• Flea and tick treatment
• Heartworm prevention
• Any other necessary medical care
Foster-to-adopt means the dog will live with you while completing any remaining veterinary care. Once completed, the adoption is finalized.
Each adoption includes a 6-week group obedience class (a $125 value).
If adopting a puppy under 6 months of age, we cover the cost of spay/neuter at the appropriate time.
Paws-in-Prison dogs are not available for adoption until they complete their training program. However, you may apply in advance to reserve your highly trained companion.

More about this rescue
Developing highly adoptable dogs through our positive reinforcement rehabilitation training program.
This program is designed to save, rehabilitate, train, and rehome dogs that have been abandoned, abused, neglected, placed on death row, or misunderstood.
We give dogs a second chance to have a happy life!
Our Founder & President
" I was born to be a voice for the voiceless! This is deep rooted in my soul. From an incredibly young age, I have been their voice and continue to be heard"
Our founder and president, Judy Troyer, is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer. She not only trains obedience but also focuses her advanced training on understanding aggression & rehabilitation protocols. She uses positive reinforcement techniques, for our rescues training and rehabilitation. With her knowledge and training style, many dogs have been given a second chance to live a healthy happy life.
Judy is a big advocate for clear communication, pain free and force free training techniques and is the voice for so many misunderstood dogs!
Our Team
We are animal loving volunteers who spend our lives dedicated to our rescues. We work very hard to help with the rescue's training and help them become highly adoptable & happy dogs! We believe every dog deserves a second chance to be understood and to learn how to live appropriately in the human world. We are consistent with our training techniques and have seen amazing transformations in dog behaviors. We go above and beyond for those that can't speak for the themselves.
Joining our team, you will learn many amazing training techniques, understand dog body language and be making a huge difference in the life of a rescue!
