My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I am here at Safe Haven with my 2 sisters, we are a very playful and loving group of cats. I like gentle petting and slow movements when people come to visit, I will run and hide when people are too noisy and move fast, but I really do love to play with any toys that encourage my hunting skills...teaser wands and the concealed motion toys are my favorites. I would do best in a quiet home with a very patient person who would give me time to get used to my new home life. If I am the kind of boy you're looking for please put in an application today.

Once an application is approved, we ask potential adopters to come to the shelter to visit the pet or pets they are interested in. If it seems like a great fit, then we would have you fill out the Adoption Contract and provide you with the pet's medical chart, some of the food it is currently eating, and offer any advice we can on that individual cat or dog.

Our shelter is located at 1471, US Highway 20 West, Elizabeth, IL, 61028. Our hours are: Monday - Saturday, 10am to 3pm. We can provide by-appointment-only visits from 3pm to 5:30pm. We are closed on Sundays.

Safe Haven is a small non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, located in Jo Daviess County and supported entirely by community donations & memberships. Our Board of Directors, Shelter Staff, and Dedicated Volunteers believe that together we can make a difference in the lives of cats, dogs, and the people who care about them.

Our mission at Safe Haven is to provide a haven and treatment for adoptable cats & dogs, place them in suitable homes, increase awareness of the humane treatment of animals and promote spay & neuter programs to reduce the overpopulation of cats and dogs in Jo Daviess County.
