Heihei… I mean, hello there! I’m Tangi, a four-month-old all-black adventurer with a heart as big as the ocean and a belly flop that would make Moana herself proud. I may hiss when we first meet, but don’t be fooled—that’s just me saying, “Wait! I’m figuring out if you’re okay!” Once I know you mean me no harm, I’ll melt faster than a sunbeam on the water.
I have the loudest purr you’ve ever heard, like the roar of a mighty wave, and I love to share it with anyone brave enough to earn my trust. I’m a big, floppy girl who loves sprawling out, rolling over, and showing off my dramatic belly—seriously, my belly flops are legendary.
Adventure is my specialty. Give me a toy, and I’ll chase it across the room like I’m riding the ocean waves, leaping, pouncing, and flopping with all the energy of a true explorer. Treats? Oh yes! I’ll show you just how much I appreciate them with happy chirps and joyful spins.

We are located at 3519 Drance St. in Port Charlotte.
Take exit 167 off I-75 and go towards US-41/Tamiami Trail, drive for about 1½ mile and on the right side, you'll see an yellow sign that says animal shelter, make a right on Drance St. and we are at the end of the road.
We are open 7 days a week from 11am-5pm.

The Animal Welfare League is a non-profit organization committed to advocating for animal protection and welfare. We are based in Port Charlotte, Florida. Since 1963 our shelter has served the Charlotte County community by providing a temporary home, medical service and caring attention for many dogs, cats and other animals. These animals come to us as strays, pets given up by their owners, unfortunate animals rescued from abuse and neglect, or simply lost pets in need of being re-united with their families.
