Dean is available for adoption. He is one of those very special former hunting dogs who is still just getting familiar with people, noises, living in a house and enjoying life as a family pet.

Dean is 4 years old and 20 pounds. He is a very sweet, nervous beagle. He loves to cuddle and get pets on the couch.

Dean is getting more comfortable every day with going in and out of the house without fear and hesitation. He likes to eat his food in his crate, and he eats it very quickly. He has no aggression or resource guarding issues.

Dean will go in his crate independently, sometimes even without the promise of a treat! He also sleeps through the night in his crate. We are still working on housebreaking.

Dean loves to go for walks and is working on keeping out from under your feet. He is nervous around any people, kids or adults, who make any sudden movements or loud noises. Dean is nervous in the car and just sits perfectly still, waiting for the ride to be over. Dean has not been around any cats while getting fostered.

Dean is very fond of the other beagle in the foster home and so because he will be more comfortable in a home with another dog and can learn how to be a family pet from another dog we do want him to go to a home with a dog. He is nervous meeting bigger dogs so probably a dog his size or smaller would be best. He will also need a fenced yard.

Dean is neutered, micro-chipped and heartworm negative. We know it will take just the right family to work with a timid little dog like Dean but we know you are out there.
