Dansby is a beautiful beagle girl who is looking for a home.
She is a 4 year old hunting beagle we took in with her sister Elsa. As you can see in the pictures, she is quickly falling in love with being an inside family pet. She even snuggles on the couch with her poodle foster sister.
Dansby is very sweet and a bit shy at first. She is adjusting well to being a pet and has done really well with housebreaking. She is also discovering toys and likes to carry her toys around and take them to her bed.
Dansby is not as food motivated as most beagles and will sometimes not even eat all her food. She is a slow eater and has no food aggression.
She is friendly and playful with people and with the other foster dogs in the home. She was a little nervous at the vet's office but did fine. The longer she is here the more we see her wonderful, fun personality.
Dansby does sometimes bark at other dogs when she is out walking on a leash. She will need some training with this issue.
She is vaccinated, micro-chipped and spayed. She was heartworm negative when she arrived and has been on heartworm prevention but has now tested positive. Heartworms don't always show up in tests for 6 months so she was positive when she arrived and we did not know it. We have started her on the medication. At least we know she hasn't had them long. If you are interested in meeting Dansby our application can be found at www.homesfurhoounds.org

Additional adoption info
We require an application. Once the application is received we check personal and vet references and if renting, we verify with leasing company that pets are allowed. If that is approved, we set up a meeting with the pet. We then perform a home check. If the person wants to adopt, we require a contract and our adoption fee is $300.00. Our dogs are all spayed/neutered, HW tested, up to date on shots and micro-chipped.

More about this rescue
Homes Fur Hounds Inc. was formed to help the overwhelming number of animals that are abandoned, surrendered to county agencies and simply unwanted. These animals are facing death due to no fault of their own other than not being convenient. Our mission is to help stop the unnecessary killing of animals. Thousands of animals are put to sleep (some more humanely than others) every day. We strive to educate the public on the importance of spaying, neutering, heartworm preventive and general health care. We also strive to help owners who are experiencing difficulties with their pet find solutions to their problems. By helping them find solutions we keep the animals out of the county pounds and from being abandoned. It is our policy to adopt out only healthy dogs and to do our best to know and understand what type of home the dog needs. We are always striving to find that “forever home” for the animals.
