Sammie is a beautiful Tortoiseshell cat. She is super affectionate has been very well cared for and socialized. She is used to being an indoor/outdoor kitty. She has had minimal interaction with other cats and wants to keep it that way, so a home where she would be the only kitty is best. Sammie is in foster care with an elderly couple until we can find her a home. They love her dearly but can't take care of her much longer. She needs to find a home urgently! We charge a $150 adoption fee for shelter dogs, $200 for Paws in Prison trained dogs, and $75 for cats. To make application to adopt a pet you will need to go to our website schspets.org and complete an online application and someone will call you to discuss adoption process and to make an appointment to visit our shelter and cat cottage.

More about this shelter

The Stone County Humane Society is a 501(C)(3) private organization, not a government entity that was formed in 1999. We rescue dogs and cats and are a no-kill shelter but we are not an open take in facility. We are currently operating from our new shelter building recently completed in August 2016 and a cat cottage. Our organization is managed by a volunteer board of 10 individuals and a full-time paid employee shelter manager that handles the day to day operations, and three part-time paid employees that feed and care for the animals and keep the facility clean. Most of our daily operations are funded by proceeds from a Second Chance Shop in town and donations from individuals. We also provide low cost spay/neuter clinics to the people of our county with help from a local vet.
