My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cookie is a very special 3-year-old, 22# Corgi likely mixed with Chihuahua. Cookie is potty trained, crate trained, and walks nicely on a leash. She is microchipped, spayed, utd, HW-, and received a clean bill of health from the vet. We think that Cookie may have had some trauma in her past and is looking for a fairly dog savvy, patient, and loving home who can help her heal. We have been working with a behaviorist and have found that low dose anti anxiety meds are very helpful so Cookie will need to remain on those for the foreseeable future. We’d like her adopter to stay in contact with her trainer and be able to follow protocol for touching, feeding, and introductions. In her foster home her favorite things are playing fetch with small stuffed toys and napping on the sofa. She is still nervous about sudden movement and noises so will need a family who can be calm and patient as she gets comfortable. She knows how to sit and come but is sometimes too nervous to listen, and like most dogs, would benefit from more training, which the rescue is willing to match while she settles into her new home.
Best traits: Enjoys being with people she trusts, Potty trained, Crate trained, Walks nicely on a leash, Not destructive.
Her dislikes are unexpected movements and noises, loud trucks, and being picked up if very scared.
Cookie’s ideal home would be with an adult female who is patient and willing to work with her and a trainer and who is home more often. She doesn’t seem to mind cats, at arms length (not tested up close). She would also need slow introductions with any low key calm canine companion in her new home. If you are interested in meeting Cookie, the first step is to complete our meet and greet application at https://www.corgisandfriends.com/forms We require the application, home and reference check, and meet with everyone in the home. Her adoption fee is $375 and we do not adopt outside of Colorado.

More about this rescue

CO Corgis and Friends is a 501 c3 dog Rescue (specializing in Corgis and other lowrider breeds) that was formed in late 2019 by a group of Corgi loving people who not only love and understand the Corgi breed, but love all other dogs as well. The founding members have over 100+ years of experience owning Corgis and 50+ years in Rescue. It is our pleasure to help homeless dogs in need, help struggling owners rehome their pets, and offer advice on training issues typical of this herding breed. Please feel free to contact us to see if we can help!
Our mission is to help find Corgis and other breeds loving forever homes, share our knowledge of the Corgi breed through outreach and education, help reduce the pet population by promoting spay/neuter, and educating the community about responsible pet care and relationships.
