Meet Simon – your oversized goofball with a heart of gold!
Hi, I’m Simon! I’m 3 years old, full of bounce, and basically a walking comedy show with fur. My absolute favorite things in the world are tennis balls, frisbees, and long walks where I can show off my loose-leash skills. I do best if I get about 30 minutes of playtime a day—but if you’re busy, just hand me a pile of chew toys and I’ll happily entertain myself (don’t worry, your shoes are safe with me!).
I’m crate-trained, mat-trained, and really proud of my toy collection—I’ll even pick out a favorite just to show you and invite you to play tug-of-war (fair warning: I might not be the best at letting go).
Life hasn’t always been easy for me, but I’ve worked really hard with my handlers to learn calming skills when I get overwhelmed. Sometimes I’ll chew my leash if I’m stressed, but I’m improving every day. What I can promise is this: if you’re having a tough time, I’ll always be there to make you laugh, snuggle close, and remind you that you’ve got a best friend for life.
Despite my big, bouncy size, I’m a gentle sweetheart. I’m probably best suited for families with kids over 7, just because my enthusiasm might be a little too much for tiny humans. I like other dogs, though my play style is still a work in progress (think excited toddler at recess). Cats? Well… let’s just say I’d do best in a home without them.
At the end of the day, I’m a giant goof with a giant heart, looking for someone who sees me not just as “big and energetic,” but as the loyal, silly, lovebug I truly am. If you’re ready for laughs, fetch marathons, and the best cuddles of your life, then I’m your guy.
Simon the “Beast” with a heart of gold is waiting for his forever home—could it be with you? For more information about our adoptable dogs and/or to submit an adoption inquiry, please visit meridianrescue.org.

Interview
We'll contact you to schedule a brief (15-30 min) remote consultation to virtually introduce you to the dog.
3.
Meet the Pet
After the consultation, we'll arrange for a meet-and-greet at our facility. If it goes well, you may be able to adopt that day.
