My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, Im Rascalette, and Im almost ready to find my forever person.
Im a petite polydactyl girl with bright blue eyes and a gentle soul. I was rescued by a kind human named Marisa who feeds and cares for feral colonies in Indio. The moment she saw me, she knew I didnt belong out there. I wasnt feral, just a little lost in the shuffle.
Im still learning to trust. I wont come running up to you, at least not yet, but if youre patient and gentle, Ill let you pet me and maybe even hold me. I just need time, calm energy, and someone who understands that Ive been through a lot. If you sit quietly, Ill slowly start to come closer. I promise.
Ive been spayed, vaccinated, and Im now in a loving foster home where Im making steady progress every day. Id do best in a quiet home with no small children. Older respectful teens might be okay, but what I really need is someone who will give me space to grow at my own pace.
Since busy adoption events would be too much for me, Im hoping for a foster to adopt situation, a home where I can slowly settle in and feel safe. Cats like me often become the most loyal and loving companions once were given a chance.
Will you be my safe place?

Submit an Application – Begin your journey by filling out our adoption application, which helps us learn more about you and your lifestyle.

Application Screening – Our team will carefully review your application to ensure a good fit for both you and the pet.

Reference Check – At this stage, we will contact your references to confirm the information provided.

Schedule a Meet-and-Greet – If everything checks out, we’ll arrange a meeting between you, your family, and the pet.

Adoption Day! – If the meet-and-greet goes well, you can finalize the adoption on the same day and welcome your new furry family member home!

We take these steps to ensure our pets go to loving, safe, and well-matched homes. Thank you for understanding and for choosing adoption!

Go meet their pets

At Desert Paws Sanctuary, our pets are loved and cared for in foster homes while they await their forever families. Because we are a foster-based rescue, all meet-and-greets with our pets are by appointment only.

This approach allows us to give each potential adopter a personalized experience while minimizing stress for our animals. Thank you for your understanding and support in giving these pets the love and care they deserve!
