Ghost von Goslar is a gorgeous 2 year old German Shepherd. He isn’t sure he likes it when we call him a pretty boy, but his face is just so beautiful. Ghost walks well on leash and is improving every day—sometimes a little wiggly at first, but he quickly settles and heels nicely. He loves being out and about and is a friendly greeter. He has a mild, calmer personality. While he enjoys exploring and walking, he’s just as happy to sit back and watch the world go by. In playgroups, he's respectful, and does well around both puppies and larger dogs. He even passed his cat and little dog tests—showing what a versatile companion he is. This sweet boy is affectionate, trainable, and ready to bring love and joy to his forever home.

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.

Upon receipt of your application, a Westside adoption counselor will contact you.We do aerial home checks and you may be asked to supply pictures as well as arranging for a home visit prior to adoption.
Adoption fees vary with each dog and typically range from $150 to $500. They are set, taking into account the dog's age, training level, temperament, if they’re newly arrived, medical condition(s) (if any) and other factors. Adoption fees are used not only to rescue and place the dog you are personally adopting, but to aid in the future rescue and rehabilitation of other deserving dogs. Adoption fees are necessary; without fees, our rescue efforts would quickly come to an end. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, and up-to-date vaccinations.
