My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello, my name is Gelato because I’m so sweet! I am an “oopsie” baby, my mom and dad were purchased from a pet store and the owners did not know they had purchased a boy and girl rabbit. It can be very difficult to tell the gender of young bunnies. We are beings of mystery. I, however, am definitely a boy! My siblings and I were all taken into rescue, and the rescue group helped mom and dad get fixed too so there will be no more oopsies. I am fixed now, and I’m good with my litter box I would like you to know.

Some things about me: My favorite toys are straw balls and untreated cardboard. And eating. In my opinion, pellets and greens make the world go around! I enjoy quick walks to the food bin. And I like to explore. Having my own space is very important to me, plus it gives me room to throw my straw balls around! My foster mom and I play ball all the time, but sometimes I run away with it. It makes her laugh, so she doesn’t mind. Maybe we can play together too? Oh, and my foster mom gives me forehead kisses every night when she puts me to bed, so I will be needing those too.

We adopt to indoor homes only! If you are interested in adopting a bunny from Orlando Rabbit Care and Adoptions or would like more information on rabbit care, please visit our website at: http://www.orlandorabbit.org. The first step to our adoption process is to complete an adoption application, which can be found here: https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/30180/generic . Then one of our volunteers will reach out to you via email to schedule a time to speak with you. If you don’t see the email in a day or two, please check your spam folder!

Our Adoption Fee/Donation for a single rabbit is $100, a pair is $170, and a triple is $200. This helps to offset the cost of having the rabbits altered, microchipped and vaccinated, as well as any medical care that may have been required.

Additional adoption info

For those that want to bond a new rabbit with an existing rabbit, we conduct bonding events where the home rabbit can meet several rabbits to find a potential match. We work with the adopting family to help ensure that the rabbits bond. We take back the adoptive rabbit if there is not a match.

Our adoption agreement specifies that we will take any adopted rabbit back, should the home situation change in the future.

Go meet their pets

We are a foster-based rescue where our available animals are kept in private homes.

You can see our rabbits online, then make an appointment to meet the rabbit(s) you select.

From time-to-time, we conduct adoption events where you can meet multiple rabbits. Because of RHDV2, these events have been paused.

More about this rescue

We are a rescue and educational group dedicated to the health, care and enjoyment of house rabbits. We believe that pet rabbits are family members and should be housed indoors, should be fed a healthy diet, should be spayed or neutered, and should receive quality medical care. Our organization strives to provide bunny parents with information to help them care for their rabbit.
