Meet Josie, a beautiful tortoiseshell girl who is the definition of gentle and low-key (estimated DOB: 4/21/2024). Josie is a quiet soul who doesn’t demand much attention but truly welcomes every bit of affection you offer. She adores gentle pets and will happily soak up the love and quiet companionship of her humans. She’d be a wonderful companion for someone looking for a sweet, serene friend to share their days with—a cat who will quietly keep you company and offer the soft comfort of her presence.
In April 2025, Josie had a litter of five kittens while at Chicago Animal Care and Control. She proved to be an exceptional mom, lovingly protecting her babies and ensuring they grew up healthy and strong. Now that her kittens are ready for their own adventures, it’s her turn to find a home forever where she can be cherished.
Because Josie has only been in our care while raising her kittens, we don’t know how she would do with other cats or dogs. For this reason, we’re recommending that she be adopted as the only pet in her household, where she can relax and enjoy all the love and attention she deserves without any added stress. She would thrive in a calm, peaceful household without too much hustle and bustle.

Once you have chosen a pet from online or visited at one of our adoption centers, you may decide to submit an application.

Interview
Your application will be acknowledged and a request made for a convenient time to set up a phone interview.

Home Check
We do not visit your home, but we do check vet and personal references.
4.
Approve Application
Once approved, you will meet with our adoption manager, sign your contract, pay your $175 donation fee, and pick up your new baby!

Adoption application is required. If approved for an adoption there is an adoption contract and a $175.00/$400.00 adoption fee. The $175.00 adoption fee for cats includes the spay/neuter, AKC micro-chipping, FIV/FeLV testing (Feline) or Heartworm testing (Canine), deworming, de-fleaing and vaccines.
