My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adopt Crackers! Everyone loves cheese, right? Well, meet sweet Crackers! Regardless of your feelings for lactose, this girl is sweet, spicy and super smart …she could be the accoutrement companion to your home. She is a 2 year old PETITE spayed female German Shepherd melange. We ponder daily what other sprinklings of breed(s) make up this fun loving girl. She was adopted as a very young puppy from Stanislaus Animal Services Agency, and unfortunately her adopters stashed her in the back yard and she seemingly received little to no attention. After approximately one year of being neglected by her owners, she was surrendered back to SASA and given the name Tonaw. She was rescued off the euthanasia list and has been in her loving foster home since January, 2024. She is best friends with the other female foster dog in the home, a pittie mix named Sandy, and a major playmate with the resident female shepherd from whom she has learned a great deal. Her intellect paired with her athleticism means that this girl can do it all! And given that she is so driven to please her person, she will do just about anything you ask. She is in her prime to be a running or hiking partner. We also tested her for different dog sports like agility and scent work, and she did beautifully. Crackers went through training and passed the Canine Good Citizen test with ease…upon adopting Crackers, she will help her new owner get that AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate. She is crate trained and very comfortable in it; sometimes she puts herself away when she needs a bit of down time. Of course when she sees her person/people, she is all wags and so happy to emerge for play, cuddles, treats and quality time. She has been around goats and chickens at her foster home, and has displayed a fair amount of prey drive. However, her live chicken tasting tendencies/problems have been cured and now she very quickly calls off the goats as well. We think she may have some cattle dog genetics. Her recall is top notch. She may not be ideal for families with small children as they may seem like something she needs to herd or chase. Dog friendly! People friendly! Crate trained! Potty trained! Sweet and loves affection! Obedient! HER PEOPLE?...she’s over the moon for. She is not perfect. We aren’t perfect. But she may be perfect for you. Please contact Pack Lyfe Rescue to fill out an application and meet this wonderful girl.September 2, 2025, 9:02 am
