My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gorgeous Aurora was surrendered to our care in December 2024 when her owner suffered a stroke and was no longer able to care for Aurora. This poor girl is only 3 years old and has been with her owner since she was a kitten.

On intake, Aurora was discovered to have a severely impacted colon. We are grateful for the support of the team at Mayne Island Vet Clinic who worked for several hours to clear her extended blockage. It is doubtful that Aurora would have survived for much longer without urgent medical attention.

Today, Aurora is doing GREAT! She has a condition known as ‘megacolon’, which is easily managed by diet (a high fibre diet) and medication added to her food. Since changing her diet and introducing medications, Aurora has had no further problems.

Aurora is a beautiful cat - and is also a POLYDACTYL - with an extra toe on each of her front paws. Although she is currently fostered with other cats, Aurora really does prefer to be on her own. She has been exposed to dogs - and does not seem to be bothered by respectful ones. Aurora is a very social cat who loves to be with people. However, she also enjoys napping in a puddle of sunshine on her own.

We would be happy to place Aurora as part of our LIFETIME foster program, whereby we would assist with food, medications and veterinary care and you would provide the love. Given her medical needs, Aurora would need to live as a STRICTLY INDOOR pet. She has always lived indoors.

Aurora has been spayed, vaccinated (FVRCP plus rabies), treated for fleas and parasites, microchipped and tested for FIV / FeLV (results were negative). To learn more about Aurora, or to set up an appointment to meet her, please reach out to us: info@catsofsaltspring.com or 236-508-2287.
