My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Alex is a sweet young boy who came to us from the Winnebago County Animal Shelter. At first, he can be a little shy—when he’s in his cage or approached too quickly, he might hiss to let you know he’s unsure. But don’t let that fool you—once you scoop him up, Alex’s true colors shine through. He melts right into your arms, turning on his loud purrs and snuggles to show just how much love he has to give.

Alex isn’t fazed by other animals at all—whether it’s cats or dogs, he wants to be their very best friend. With a patient adopter who understands his initial shyness, this little guy is sure to blossom into a confident, affectionate companion. He’s still young, and with love and time, Alex will grow into the perfect lifelong buddy.
All of our cats are spayed/neutered, dewormed, FELV tested, microchipped, receive prevention while in our care, and up to date on age appropriate vaccines. If you're interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website at https://www.sftsrescue.org/adoptable-cats

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process prioritizes accessibility, equality, and inclusivity. An application can be completed online or in person, ensuring accessibility for all potential adopters. Additionally, our application is available in Spanish to cater to a diverse range of applicants.

Once an application is submitted and approved, we facilitate adoption meet-and-greets on-site at our shelter's adoption center. This allows potential adopters to interact with the animals they are interested in and make informed decisions about their adoption.

Overall, our adoption program is designed to make the process as smooth and inclusive as possible, ensuring that each animal finds a loving and permanent home.
