My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Wednesday has a pending application!

About Me
This petite 3-year-old tuxedo girl may be small, but she’s mighty in personality and voice. Wednesday isn’t shy about letting you know when she wants food, playtime, or attention—her vocals are part of her charm! She’s a playful soul with bursts of kitten-like energy and will happily entertain herself into the night, but when she’s ready to rest, she transforms into the sweetest cuddle buddy.

She loves snuggling up at night, nudging your hand for pets, tucking herself against your arm or chest, and rewarding you with nonstop purrs and biscuit-making. Wednesday enjoys being held (even like a baby!) and doesn’t mind kisses either.

Because she adores being the center of attention, Wednesday would thrive as the only cat in the home. She might do well with one calm, laid-back feline friend, but she’d prefer not to share too much of the spotlight.

If you’re looking for a chatty, affectionate, playful companion who will shower you with love and purrs, Wednesday is ready to be your new best friend.

How I Came to PGSPCA
I found myself alone, out in the cold, and insisted that PGSPCA take me in, where I belonged. So here I am, just waiting to add a dash of style to the right family!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All of our adoptions begin with a visit to one of our adoption events. The adoption coordinator and/or the pet's foster parent will review the applications received. The applicant (if any) whose responses best fit the needs of the particular pet will generally be contacted within a week to schedule a home visit. A vet check and personal reference is also required prior to visiting your home. Our non-refundable adoption fee is $250 for dogs, $85 for kittens ($150 for a pair of kittens), and $75 for an adult cat. The fee covers spay/neuter, core vaccines (distemper and rabies), deworming, microchipping, and the general care of the animals. Per our contract, if you cannot keep your adopted pet for any reason, it must be returned to our program. We will try to find it a new home.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

We don't have a central shelter facility, so the best place to meet our adoptable cats and dogs is at our adoption shows! If you have previously filled out an application, please bring it with you to the show! Please e-mail with any questions. We cannot guarantee that an animal you want to meet will be at the show. Please check www.pgspca.org -> adopt -> adoption_show_attendees the day before the show and we will do our best to let you know if he/she will be there!

We hold two adoption events each month, on Saturdays from 12 noon to 2 pm.

More about this rescue

The PGSPCA is a nonprofit organization of volunteers dedicated to animal welfare. We are chartered by the State of Maryland, but we receive no state or county funds. Our activities are supported solely by contributions, dues and fundraising events.

We have three main objectives:

• To reduce the number of unwanted litters of dogs and cats through our progressive spay/neuter program – We have altered more than 20,000 animals over the past five years, many of them at no charge;

• To prevent cruelty to animals and all animal suffering through humane education, neglect and cruelty investigations, protective legal action, and an active dog and cat adoption program – We receive about 1,000 calls a month for cruelty investigations, spay and neuter assistance and adoption requests;

• To protect all animals against suffering and abuse through education on legislation affecting the protection of all animals – We regularly educate the public and provide testimony about animal welfare to county and state legislators.
