2020 16.2HH Bay Thoroughbred Gelding

Meet Romeo! We unfortunately don’t know much about Romeo’s history. His previous owner passed away, leaving him on his own until he was brought to us through Animal Control. Since arriving, he has been thriving in our care and steadily gaining weight.

Romeo appears to be an unraced, unregistered Thoroughbred, approximately five years old. Once he reaches a healthy weight, we plan to begin his under-saddle training. We don’t believe he has been ridden before, but with soundness, patience, and the right guidance, we’re hopeful he will grow into a wonderful riding partner. We’ll learn more about his potential once his training progresses.

Right now, Romeo is focusing on the basics: picking up his feet and building trust with people. He can become defensive when working with more than one handler at a time, so he will need a trainer who can communicate clearly and calmly without pushing him too far, too fast. Smart and opinionated, Romeo likes to do things on his own timeline, but he is also a flashy mover with lots of promise.

With continued groundwork, recovery, and patient training, this sweet boy will shine as a loyal and rewarding partner, just as charming as his name suggests.
