My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Rumi!
At just 1 year old and 38 lbs, Rumi is a petite, affectionate sweetheart who is ready to snuggle her way into someone’s life. She’s a total cuddlebug who loves nothing more than leaning in close, melting into your hands, and soaking up every bit of affection she can get.

Rumi rides beautifully in the car—she hops in on her own most of the time (sometimes needing a little boost for her back legs), settles quickly, and often curls up for a nap. With a little encouragement, she hops right back out, ready for her next adventure.

This wiggly girl is excited to meet everyone she sees. She happily solicits pets, leans in for more, and may pop up for a kiss when she forgets her manners. Because she can be jumpy and occasionally mouthy when excited, she’d do best with older kids who understand how to redirect her enthusiasm.

On leash, Rumi is lovely. She comes out of the kennel with some youthful energy, but she quickly settles into an easy walking pace. She may pull toward people she wants to greet, but with a little guidance, she focuses again. She’s nonreactive to other dogs and shows interested, friendly curiosity when she spots them.

Toys don’t hold her attention much right now, but treats definitely do—she is extremely treat motivated and a great candidate for training. She’s also very energetic and would thrive with plenty of mental and physical stimulation, especially in an active home that can help her channel her enthusiasm into fun and learning.

Rumi is great in the crate and settles nicely, but she will need a consistent routine and a little help to finish mastering her housetraining. She’s a bright, loving young dog who just wants to connect with her people. Any mouthiness is easy to redirect, and she’s eager to learn and please.

If you’re looking for a cuddly, wiggly companion with a big heart and an even bigger desire to please, Rumi is ready to be your new best friend.

Rumi has had positive interactions with other dogs. As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog-to-dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines.

Rumi is currently being fostered by All American Pet Resorts where he participates in daily play groups with other dogs! To meet Rumi, call AAPR at 336-814-9758 to make an appointment!
