Meet the Cats of Gettysburg at the Kitty Corner by Forever Love Rescue
Meow meet Raelynn! Even her name is soft and sweet. She was only about six months old when she appeared at a cat colony with her two brothers - three young kitties who were far too friendly to have been born outside. They walked right up to people, trusting, hopeful. It was almost certain they had once belonged to someone…and then were left behind. Her brothers were adopted together almost immediately. Two boys, chosen quickly, walking out the door side by side. And Raelynn stayed. She grew up at the rescue while seasons changed around her. She watch kittens and cats come in scared, only to leave cradled in loving arms. She watched families point and smile - just not at her. For reasons no one can explain, she has been passed over for years. But Raelynn has never stopped loving. She is a gentle, quiet soul. The kind of cat who doesn’t demand attention - she simply hopes for it. When you reach out your hand, she leans in with her whole heart. Her purr starts instantly, a deep, steady rumble that feels like gratitude. It almost constant when she’s near you, as if she is saying, “Thank you for noticing me”. She adores being pet. Soft strokes along her back, gentle scratches under her chin - she melts. She will follow you with hopeful eyes, eager for affection, soaking up every second of connection. She loves toys and will still play like the kitten she once was, batting and chasing with sweet enthusiasm. She’s wonderful with other cats, children, and years ago had exposure with dogs. You can pick her up to move her from place to place, and she allows it gently and calmly - but she isn’t a “hold me in your arms “ kind of girl. She prefers her love with four paws on the ground, pressed against your side, leaning into your legs, curled beside you instead of carried. She loves closeness - just in her own quiet, respectful way. At only eight months old, she had to undergo surgery for bladder stones. So young, already facing something so hard. She recovered beautifully and has done well since. Recently, she developed upper respiratory symptoms and is currently on medication to help her stay healthy. We don’t yet know if it will be long term, but through every vet visit, every treatment, every change - she remains gentle. She remains trusting. She has never stopped believing that her person is out there. Imagine being a baby, left behind. Imagine watching your brothers leave together. Imagine growing up year after year without ever knowing what it feels like to have a home that is yours. And still - still - she purrs. Raelynn is not flashy. She won’t demand to be the center of attention. She won’t dramatically leap into arms. But she will love you quietly, faithfully, endlessly. She will sit beside you on hard days. She will greet you with soft eyes and a rumbling purr. She will be there. She has waited long enough. Raelynn doesn’t just need a home. She needs someone to finally choose her!
