My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Jetta!

Jetta came to us three months ago as a transfer, arriving sick and understandably overwhelmed. After everything they’ve been through, this sweet kitty has taken their time adjusting but they’ve made incredible progress along the way.

Jetta is still a nervous soul and isn’t quite ready to be held yet, but their personality shines when they feel safe. They love other cats and absolutely thrive in our open cat room, where they enjoy the comfort and confidence that comes from having feline friends around. And if you offer the good treats we’re talking Temptations or Churu, of course Jetta will happily let you give them gentle pets.

This special cat simply needs patience, understanding, and a calm home where they can decompress at their own pace. With love, time, and maybe a few tasty treats, Jetta is sure to blossom into the wonderful companion we know they can be.

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Greater Dayton is proud to be a no-kill animal welfare agency. We are committed to finding great homes for great pets! As a 501(c)(3) nonproft, we receive no government funding and rely solely on donations from individuals, companies and grants to fund our programs and services. We are not affiliated with any other animal agency on a local, state or national level. Since 1902, our organization has been devoted to being a voice for the voiceless. Although we proudly find more than 2,000 animals forever homes every year, we are far more than an adoption center. We currently have a wide array of programs to support animals in our community. Through our high-volume spay and neuter clinic, we are able to help pet owners as well as battle cat overpopulation through Trap-Neuter-Return. Our humane society agents also work tirelessly to protect pets from cruel and neglectful circumstances through our Cruelty & Neglect Investigations Department. Through our Veterinary Hospital, we can provide top-quality access to veterinary care at a low cost to pet owners. In addition to our many programs, our organization is unique because we are the only agency in the community able to handle all types of animals. This includes cats and dogs but also rabbits, birds, farm animals, pocket pets and exotics. Our organization is committed to providing our community, our state and our region with support and care.
