Sunburst and Celeste are a resilient brother-sister duo born around October of last year. They were rescued from a struggling feral colony in Macomb, arriving thin, sick, and covered in parasites. Sunburst’s sun-bleached coat was dull, and his nose was caked with sickness. But with love and care, these two quickly proved they weren’t feral at all—they were just waiting for a chance to shine.
Both are a little shy at first, but their personalities blossom once they feel safe. Sunburst is a total character—he has the most amazing chirpy purr that will make you laugh, and he isn’t shy about yelling for pets or reminding you when it’s mealtime. Celeste, on the other hand, is more reserved. She’s hand-shy and not a fan of being picked up, but when she relaxes, she soaks up affection and purrs her heart out.
Together, they balance each other beautifully. Both love other cats and are incredibly playful, making them a joy in a multi-cat home. They would adore being adopted together, but they can also go separately if the perfect matches come along.
Celeste may be a little harder to win over, but the reward of earning her trust is immeasurable—she has so much love to give. Sunburst will be your goofy, affectionate shadow from day one.
These two survivors are ready for their happily ever after—whether side by side or in loving homes of their own.
Sunburst & Celeste are currently in a foster home. If you are interested in meeting them, please send a message here, or email adopt@ahsem.org.
Adoption fees are as follows: $155 for a single cat or kitten, $195 for a pair of cats or kittens. When adopting a cat from AHSEM the adoption includes spay or neuter surgery, age appropriate core vaccines, microchipping, combo tested (for FIV/FeLV), and basic wellness care including deworming and flea treatment.

AHSEM treats every adoption as "foster to adopt" This means that the first two weeks in which you have the cat is the "foster period." We do our best to ensure the right match for all involved and want to give the cat(s) time to decompress and adapt to their new environment. However, we realize sometimes things don't work out as expected. Therefore, during that two-week period, if something doesn’t work out you can bring the cat back. We will always take our cats back even after the "foster to adopt" period. We would hate to see them end up at a kill shelter, abandoned, or any other unsafe situation.
