My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sweet Senior Seeks Quiet Home
Meet Haus! This sweet, quiet Rat Terrier mix is around 8 or 9 years old and is looking for a peaceful home where he can spend his golden years enjoying strolls to explore and sniff everything. Haus is a gentle soul who loves nothing more than to soak up the sun and enjoy the simple pleasures of a quiet life.
What Makes Haus Special
Haus is a calm and easygoing companion. He’s already house-trained and is very quiet in his kennel. He's not a fan of a lot of commotion and would prefer a home where he can be the star of the show. He's a little shy around other dogs, so a home where he's the only pet would be ideal.
Who is Haus's Ideal Companion?
Haus would thrive in a quiet, calm household. He's looking for a family with adults only or with older, respectful children who understand and appreciate his gentle nature. He dreams of a home with a yard where he can spend his days leisurely sniffing the breeze and basking in the sunshine. He even still enjoys a few miles of walking each day. If you have a comfy spot on the couch, he'd love to share it with you too.
Haus is in Stage 1 Kidney disease. He is doing very well on a canned food diet and occasional sub-Q fluids. He will need bloodwork a few times a year to make sure his levels are staying steady. Even with that diagnosis, Haus is still so happy and enthusiastic about life.
If you're looking for a chipper, loving companion who will fill your home with quiet joy, Haus might be the perfect fit for you.

Haus’ adoption fee has been waived due to his need for continuing care after adoption.
We are a foster based rescue, we do not house dogs at a facility. Age and breed are NLR's best guess as we often don't know who or what mom and dad are. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website. www.northernlakesrescue.org

Go meet their pets

Northern Lakes Rescue is foster based so all dogs are being fostered by amazing volunteers across the state of MN. Because of this, we require all meet and greets to be scheduled after an application is submitted.

Our focus after you apply is to get you scheduled to meet the dog within 3 to 7 days.

More about this rescue

Our Vision is to be a voice for those who are voiceless. We hear them with our hearts and give them a voice. Looking into the eyes of a rescued animal will speak volumes; watching those eyes light up will have an everlasting impact on you and the rescued animals.

We aren’t a typical rescue as we don’t take in dogs and put them in kennels until they’re adopted. All dogs we rescue are placed in loving foster homes that teach them to be the best dog they can be.

Our journey doesn’t end with adoption, either. We are here for you to support you in integrating your new member into your home, cheer new triumphs, and help with struggles.
