Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Ozzy is a sleek black cat with a tipped ear that tells part of his story. He was once part of a Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) program, a survivor of the streets who's now ready for something better: a forever home. Estimated to be around 4 years old, Ozzy is past the wild kitten chaos but still full of personality. In fact, he will let you know when he has something to say— he’s a bit of a talker, meowing for attention. When he wants your company, he’ll brush up against you with all the charm of a cat who knows exactly what he wants.
What Ozzy Loves:
* Chin scratches and gentle pets
* Rubbing up against his favorite humans
* Being part of the action (on his own terms!)
* Having conversations with you — he’s got a lot of
opinions!
Ozzy enjoys affection, but doesn’t appreciate being overhandled or having his safe spaces invaded. He’s independent, a little sassy and totally okay setting his boundaries. Because of this, we recommend that Ozzy go to a home without children under the age of 12, where his communication style will be respected and understood.
FIV+ –What It Really Means
Ozzy has tested FIV+ (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus), but don’t let that scare you away. It cannot be spread to humans or dogs and is most commonly transmitted through deep bite wounds of outdoor cats competing for limited resources. Many FIV+ cats live long, healthy and happy lives with regular vet care, good nutrition and a safe indoor environment.
Our adoption consultant will be happy to talk with you in depth about FIV and what it means for Ozzy’s care, so you’ll feel fully informed and supported.
Why Adopt Ozzy?
He’s charming, chatty, independent, and affectionate in his own unique way. With a bit of patience and a whole lot of love, Ozzy will reward you with companionship, head bumps and a voice that makes sure you’ll never feel alone in the room. And while he shares a name (and a bit of attitude) with the Prince of Darkness (Ozzy Osbourne) himself, this Ozzy is more into cozy naps and chin scratches than rock concerts—though he might still meow like he’s headlining Madison Square Garden.
The shelter is open Tuesdays through Fridays 3:30-6:30pm AND Saturdays & Sundays 1pm-4pm. No appointments are needed during those times. If you are not available during those times, special arrangements for a meet and greet may be able to be arranged by emailing arfcats@bereaanimalrescue.com. Thank you for considering the adoption of a shelter animal in need!

More about this rescue
Berea Animal Rescue Fund “ARF” began in 1987 as a small group of animal lovers started a ‘grassroots’ movement, recognizing the desperate housing and healthcare needs of homeless animals. Their efforts began in the southwest suburban Cleveland area, transforming a family’s garage into an animal "shelter."
The ARF movement grew when the city of Berea provided us a small building, utility costs included. In return, ARF would always have a cage open for the city’s stray animals. Now, after 20 years of service and thousands of success stories later ARF continues to save lives and make friends. ARF is operated in large part by a group of very dedicated volunteers who give their time and endless love to the shelter's furry residents.
Our next big goal is to position ourselves into a roomier facility…a more spacious home to the area's unwanted and abandoned animals. We believe no pet should be euthanized or left behind because lack of such a place. Our facility is overcrowded and outdated by today’s animal welfare standards. ONLY, through the generous support of the community and the dedication of our volunteers, can we make this dream a reality.
2007 was record breaking for ARF with both animals served and operating costs. Much help is needed!
The Berea Animal Rescue Fund “ARF” operates as a No Time Limit Shelter.
We are a 501(c) 3 Non Profit.
ARF's mission statement.... For the betterment of the lives of stray and abandoned animals, Berea’s Animal Rescue Fund, Inc. promises to:
Give loving care and companionship for as long as needed;
Provide shelter, food and medical necessities;
Seek quality homes through adoption programs;
Create public interest and awareness of animal rights and issues; and
Promote action and advocacy for all of the above.
