Meet Mia! Mia is a 6-year-old, spayed Terrier mix with a sweet heart and a playful, terrier-style personality. She loves attention and playtime—and when she’s excited, she can get a little mouthy (using her mouth to communicate). The good news: her mouthing typically decreases once she feels comfortable with you and has a consistent routine. Because she can be mouthy, Mia is not an ideal match for a home with small children.
Mia is a foodie through and through—she loves food and treats and is especially happy to snack on dog-safe fruits and veggies like carrots, celery, broccoli, strawberries, pineapple, watermelon, and blueberries (in appropriate portions). Treats can be a great way to build trust and reinforce her routine.
Mia is still polishing her potty skills. She will often sit by the door or whine when she needs to go out, but if her signals are missed, she may have an accident near the door. Because of this, Mia would do best in a house (not an apartment) with an adopter who can keep a regular schedule and respond quickly to her cues.
Mia also needs clear boundaries around food. She can be food protective and may growl if someone tries to take her food, or if another pet gets too close to her meals or treats. Feeding her separately and giving her space with treats/chews will set her up for success.
Mia’s crate is her safe place—it’s where she can rest, relax, and feel secure. With structure, patience, and a steady routine, Mia will be a loving companion for the right home.
