My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Koko — A Smart, Loyal Girl Looking for the Right Home

Koko is a sweet, affectionate, and incredibly loyal dog who’s looking for a very special home — one that understands her needs and is committed to helping her feel safe and confident.

She’s 7 years old, medium-sized, and absolutely adores her people. Koko loves cuddles, tummy rubs, and curling up close at night (she sleeps soundly through the night!). She’s also very food-motivated and loves her stuffed toys — her favorite pastime is “roughing up” her plushies with great enthusiasm!

Koko is fully potty trained and knows how to sit. She’s also a very smart girl who learns quickly when given structure and consistency.

However, Koko struggles with reactivity and anxiety, especially around other dogs. On walks, she becomes highly reactive — lunging, barking, and spinning when she sees another dog. She also reacts to movement outside (people, dogs, trucks) and even to animals she sees on TV. These behaviors stem from fear and over-stimulation, not aggression, and she’ll need a patient, experienced adopter willing to work with a positive-based trainer to help her continue learning.

Koko also gets anxious when her people leave. She’s making progress with crate training but still needs reassurance and consistency to feel comfortable when alone.

Because of her reactivity, Koko should be the only pet in the home, and a calm, adult-only household would be best for her at this time. A securely fenced yard would be ideal so she can enjoy outside time safely without unexpected encounters with other dogs.

With the right person — someone who understands her triggers, respects her boundaries, and can provide patient training and structure — Koko has so much love to give.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our process includes the completion of an application Upon completion of the application we will:

Contact your vet for information on current and previous animals. It is critical that you have authorized your vet to release information to us.

If you are a renter, we will contact your landlord for verification of animal acceptance, or you can provide a copy of your lease.

Complete a background check using publicly available information.

If applying to adopt a dog, we will complete a home visit which requires all household members to be present.

After the approval is complete you will be free to meet our animals. When meeting dogs, all members of the household as well as any dogs will be required to meet prior to finalizing any adoption.
Our process is thorough and allows us to make every effort to identify the right match for your family. Please be forthcoming of all information during the process as that is what allows us to find the match. Adding a new family member is FOREVER and will adjust your free time, finances and overall life style. Animal adoption is a serious decision.

JR's Pups-N-Stuff, Inc. is a volunteer based organization. Most volunteers have full time jobs and families. Our dedication to helping each and every animal find the right match can take time. Please understand and be patient during the process. Thank you.

More about this rescue

We are an all breed dog rescue and help with some cats as well. We strive to help reduce the over population of pets by spaying and neutering our pets and find forever homes for pets left in shelters that otherwise would be euthanized.
