Hi, Im Dexter-and if tail wags, wiggles, and love were Olympic sports, Id already have a gold medal.

Im about a year old and still figuring out this big, exciting world. Every day is an adventure, and I greet it all with a wagging tail, a bouncy trot, and a heart full of sweetness. Im what they call super wiggly-which basically means I cant contain my joy when I see my favorite people (or really anyone who looks like they might want to pet me).

Even though Im still young, I already know a few commands-because hey, Im a smart cookie-but Id really benefit from some obedience classes. Not because Im naughty (Im actually very good), but because I want to be the best dog I can be. A little guidance, a few treats, and some positive vibes, and Ill be top of the class in no time.

I might like to have a canine roommate, but Id prefer to meet any other dogs in the home first-just to make sure we all get along and that the vibes are right. Ive got plenty of love to go around, but Im still learning how to share it best!

Im sweet, eager to please, and always ready to love and learn. If youre looking for a fun-loving, affectionate young pup to grow with, I just might be your perfect match.

So-what do you say? Ready to meet the happiest, wiggliest future best friend around? My names Dexter, and I cant wait to be your good boy!

Featuring photos by Caley Clark Photography

Please note that we operate by first come, first serve along with adoption approval. Wait times may vary depending on the time of week and day.
We are reserving Mondays and Tuesdays for appointments for members of the public who are immunocompromised or are still uncomfortable being in large crowds due to COVID-19.
If you have any questions about our adoptable pets, please call (913) 831-7722 or email adoptions@greatplainsspca.org. Our expert matchmakers look forward to finding you the perfect furry family member!
Adoption Requirements:
- Adopter must be 18 years of age or older.
- Adopters must complete a survey and present photo identification to meet any of our animals.
- For the safety and health of our animals, we do not ship pets.
- Pet adoption fees range from $60 to $350. Our adoption fees help to offset the cost of evaluation, housing, feeding and medical care for the thousands of animals needing our help. We do our best to keep our adoption prices reasonable while generating income to support our goal of caring for animals available for adoption until we can place them in a loving home. The adoption fee for each animal varies and is dependent on many factors including: age, size, behavior, medical condition, and public demand.
