My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Lady! This robust royal is always down for a good cuddle and prefers only the softest of blankies! Lady's always excited for an adventure from leisurely walks in the park, a nice open-window car ride, or a good fluffy toy to nibble on! If you're interested in a companion that prefers your company over most everything, Lady's here and waiting to spend her golden days with her best friend!

Kids: Lady's great with children! Children 8 years and older would be best due to her intense love.

Dogs: We're not quite sure how Lady does with dogs. She does seem to enjoy playtime with them as long as they can respect her boundaries when it's time to relax. We always advise cautious and supervised introductions for the best chance of success.

Cats: Lady has never met a cat before but due to her high prey drive we advise extreme caution and supervision during potential introductions as a prey drive does not always indicate compatibility with cats.

Lady's Favorite Things: rope toys, leisurely walks in the park, cuddling, talk radio, sleeping in the big bed, air conditioning, hangin' out

Lady is spayed, microchipped, and fully up to date on vaccines and preventions! For questions or to schedule a Meet-n-Greet, please complete an application and WCHS will reach out

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adoptions are processed same day! All we ask is for an adoption questionnaire and survey to be completed as well as a copy of the adopter's state ID in order to assure they are at least 18 years old.

Each animal has a fee which must be paid at the time of adoption and there is a small amount of paper to be completed as well.

We ask that adopted animals safely leave the shelter either in a carrier or in a leash and collar.

All adoptable animals have been spayed/neutered, received, age appropriate vaccinations, and a microchip! Cats have been tested for FIV and FeLV. Dogs have been tested for heartworm as well as kept current on flea and heartworm prevention.

More about this shelter

The Wood County Humane Society was originally founded in 1904, and has been committed to the well-being of many different species of domesticated animals that require our help. In 1988, the Minniebelle Conley Shelter was established through the generous legacy of the Minniebelle Conley Trust, and our current location was built to provide these services, and has continually been doing so since. We are a private, non-profit, limited admission, 501(c) (3) organization and rely on the generous contributions and donations of our members and residents of Wood County. We do not receive any funding from the ASPCA or the Humane Society of the United States for our daily operations.
