Gambit thrives in the great outdoors — whether he`s sprinting around the play yard or chasing after his favorite ball, this boy is always ready to turn every day into a new adventure. He’s smart, eager to please, and already knows “sit.” He takes treats gently and walks well on a leash — a total gentleman with a playful streak! He’s curious about other dogs, so a meet-and-greet is a must to make sure it’s a checkmate, not a stalemate.

All shelter locations are conducting animal viewing and adoptions on a first come, first serve basis. We are not able to move a pet from one location to another for your viewing.
The adoption fee is waived for all available pets in care and in foster homes. Standard adoption practices will still be in place, including background checks.

The City of Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department (AWD) expanded the shelter days of service to seven days a week with operational hours of 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and pet viewing from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m for both the east and west side shelter locations.
