Handsome Monroe is quite a catch! He loves to meet new friends, whether furry four-legged ones, or the two-legged variety. He looks forward to going outside to see if the neighbor dog is available to play. He is full of playful energy and wants to be part of the action wherever he goes. He currently lives with three cats and is always ready to play with them (he hasn't quite figured out how to convince them, however).
Once his outings have concluded, he loves nothing more than to sit by you and snuggle, whether in his pen or on the couch. On one of his outings this week, he played soccer at the park and scored two goals! He is busy every day working on basic obedience when he isn't napping or on an outing. This is great fun, as he is very food motivated. Monroe is an adorable guy who is a sweetheart and ready for his forever family!
Monroe is progressing nicely with house training, and is making it most days without the need of puppy pads. At night he still has them available, as he is quiet in his xpen all night long. He loves to explore and is busy learning all about the world.
Monroe is estimated to be 5 months old and 27 lbs. Since we don’t know the dog’s actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. All dogs have had a vet examination, are up to date on all vaccinations, have been given dewormer and heartworm prevention. Dogs over 7 months have been heartworm tested.
If you are interested in meeting this dog please complete the adoption application on our website at https://safehandsrescue.org/adoption-process/ and then we can contact you about setting up a meeting.
We are also holding the following upcoming adoption events!
Please note: All dogs/puppies will not be at every event, and some may find their home prior to the event. If you are interested in a specific animal, please check our Facebook page for confirmed attendance the morning of the event: https://www.facebook.com/safehandsrescue/
You do not need to have a Facebook account to check the Safe Hands Facebook page for attendance. We hope to see you at an upcoming Meet & Greet!
Saturday, December 6, 1:30-3:30pm, Insight Brewing, Insight Brewing, 2821 E. Hennepin Ave, Minneapolis, https://www.facebook.com/events/1838354580133761

We only adopt out animals to homes within 60 miles of the Twin Cities. Our adoption process begins with the return of our pre-adoption form, available on our website. After reviewing your application a meeting is scheduled between you and the pup, sometimes in the fosters home or at a neutral dog friendly place. If any resident dogs are in your home, it is recommended that the pups meet at this time. After the meeting a home visit is scheduled and if everything goes well with the visit the adoption is finalized at that time. A home visit by one of Safe Hands representatives is REQUIRED prior to finalizing any adoption and we must meet all members of the household where the pup will be living sometime during the adoption process.

More about this rescue
Safe Hands is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization dedicated to saving lives and finding forever homes for stray, abandoned and surrendered dogs in high kill shelters. Of great importance to us is to reduce the stray population and need for healthy animal euthanasia through spay/neuter programs, education, and promotion of respect for the furry creatures that share our lives.
We are a small, no-kill, volunteer run organization. All of our dogs listed are in foster homes waiting to be adopted and because of this, we get to know the dogs' personalities very well and use this information to match them to an appropriate home. We do not have a physical shelter.
This rescue is not funded by public funds nor does it receive many donations so it is dependent on adoption fees to keep operating. We have a great need for foster homes. If you are interested in providing foster care, and live within an hour of the Twin Cities, please e-mail us
Donations ALWAYS needed are: dog crates, puppy pee pads, natures miracle (for pet stain removal), Nutrisource brand puppy and dog food, Lysol disinfecting wipes, paper towels, large clean towels, dog toys, leashes, collars and gas cards to help with our transports.
