Pet Location: Wayside Waifs Main Campus. Jewel is a member of a behavior program! Please arrive to the shelter by 4pm on adoption days to meet with her.
My Friends at Wayside say: - I am enrolled in LIFT University. This is a program for dogs to build confidence in new situations and work on managing energy. My adoption comes with a free 30-minute private training session. - During my time at Wayside, I have enjoyed being around other dogs. - New people and things make me a little nervous. Let’s take things slow! - I am eligible for a Slumber Pawty, a 7-10 day in-home trial period. Please visit our website for additional information.
My home needs are: - I must go to a home that already has another dog so they can show me the ropes. - I need a home with kids 6 years old and older since I tend to be nervous around new people and loud noises. - A fenced yard is a must for me! I do not know how to walk on a leash, so I need a secure area to go out for potty breaks.
Special Request from Jewel: For my safety, I need to go home on an anti-slip collar called a martingale collar. For your convenience, we sell them in our retail store, Whiskers and Wags.
Hi there, I’m Jewel! I’m playful and friendly and super sweet. There’s still so much about life that I have yet to figure out, though, so much for me to experience for the very first time. I just never had the chance to be a normal puppy with all the fun and silliness that goes along with that, so I’m making up for lost time now. I hope that maybe you’d like to join me on my journey. I’d love to be part of your family!
I’m a darling, 10-month-old, 34-pound bundle of fun, with gentle eyes, a bright smile, the cutest little face, and a spunky, delightful personality. I’m not fully housebroken yet, but I’m working on it and making progress every day! If you stay patient with me and keep me on a schedule, it will help to set me up for success. These things just take time when you’ve spent your whole life in a shelter. I was transferred to Wayside from a rural, overcrowded shelter in Arkansas, where I had lived my whole life. There were so many dogs there, we had limited resources, and very little human contact. Coming to Kansas City was exciting yet scary and stressful at the same time. I was so happy when I had the opportunity to go to a loving foster home as I wait for you to find me. I’m still learning, but life is incredibly good!
