Meet Akari This sweet 5-month-old pup weighs about 30 lbs and is full of love and playful puppy energy. She adores people, gets along wonderfully with other dogs, and has a heart as big as her paws. Akari loves to run, play with her chew toys, and will never say no to a tasty treat. She’s still young and learning, but she’s eager to please and ready to grow into the best companion. If we are adopting out a dog who has been trained the adopter must agree to one training session the day they adopt the dog (coming home). If we decide additional training sessions will be needed we will advise the adopter prior to adoption.

More about this rescue

We are a veteran-run dog rescue based in San Diego, California. Our goal is to change the rescue world. We adopt our dogs to any loving and qualified homes, but we also provide ESAs for military veterans. With The Heroic Tail’s model, we are not only able to rescue dogs from high-kill shelters who happen to be at the wrong place at the wrong time, but we are also able to help the dogs deemed “unadoptable” and give them a better chance at a happy and healthy life!
