Meet Cheyenne & Spearfish — A Shy, Sweet Duo Looking for a Feline Friend
Estimated Age: 7 months
Cheyenne and Spearfish are a bonded pair of rescue kitties searching for the perfect home — one with another friendly cat (or two) who’s looking for playful companionship, quiet adventures, and long, cozy naps.
These two much prefer the company of other animals over humans right now. They adore feline friends and will happily play, explore, and curl up beside another cat. Humans, however, are still a work in progress. They’re learning that people can be kind, gentle, and safe — but trust takes time.
Cheyenne is the braver of the pair and the unofficial leader. He’s curious, confident, and not afraid to set boundaries. If you reach out too quickly, he may give a gentle swat (no claws!) to remind you that he’s not quite ready for pets — but his confidence helps Spearfish feel safe enough to explore too.
Spearfish is a quiet observer with a soft heart. She shows a growing curiosity about her surroundings, especially when another cat is nearby.
What They Love:
Other cats — their favorite companions
Playtime with toys, tunnels, and anything that moves
Napping on human beds… as long as the humans pretend they’re not there
Routine — they eat well and have excellent litter box manners
Cheyenne and Spearfish are not lap kitties (yet), and they may never be overly needy — but they are full of potential. With patience, gentle voices, and a cat-savvy home, they may one day welcome soft pets and quiet affection.
If you’re looking to offer a safe, understanding home — and have a furry friend who needs companions — Cheyenne and Spearfish could be the perfect match.
Sometimes the most meaningful bonds are the ones you earn
Spearfish is from a stray surrender with 3 siblings. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract.
To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page.
If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.
Want to adopt a kitten? We highly recommend you consider bringing home two instead of one! Adopting kittens in pairs has been proven to be beneficial for cats’ emotional and behavioral well-being and greatly improves the likelihood of long-term adopter happiness as a result. Adopting more than one kitten also reduces the risk of “Single Kitten Syndrome” (also known as Tarzan Syndrome), a symptom of under-socialization during a kitten’s most formative weeks. Kittens who are under-socialized may develop aggressive tendencies toward both other animals and humans as they grow, creating lifelong behavioral issues for owners.
