Acai is a petite Chihuahua with soft white fur and a big personality tucked inside her little frame. She’s calm, cuddly, and people-oriented, with a special love for ear and chest scratches. Mealtime is her favorite part of the day, and she’s highly food motivated—something her adopter can use to their advantage when training.
Acai does best in an adult-only home without small children (under 10–12), since she can be protective of her food, toys, bed, and personal space. She may growl if pushed past her comfort zone, but with calm, patient handling and respect for her boundaries, she blossoms into a sweet and loyal companion.
While she has done fine around another dog in foster care, Acai prefers to be the center of attention and will likely thrive as an only dog. She is not suitable for apartment or condo living, as she tends to react to outside noises with barking. Her foster is working on this, and she’s making steady progress, but a quieter home environment will set her up for success.
Acai does have some allergies, but with the right care and routine she’s able to live comfortably.
Her ideal match is someone who works from home or is retired, enjoys a quieter lifestyle, and wants a loyal little shadow to share the couch with. Acai may come with a few quirks, but in the right home she’ll reward you with her affection, companionship, and gentle presence.
