Meet Terry — The Teddy Bear (and Sometimes Koala Bear) with a Crooked Smile
One day, a scruffy little cat showed up on a doorstep looking like he’d been through ten lifetimes of bad luck. His eyes were nearly shut, his teeth were broken, and honestly, he looked like he’d just lost a bar fight with life itself. But under all that, there was Terry; a gentle, brilliant, one-of-a-kind cat who just needed a chance.
Turns out, Terry had entropion (where the eyelids roll inward and scratch the eyes), busted teeth, a bad cold, and FIV. Most cats would have been grumpy about all that. Not Terry. He politely allowed baths, medicines, eye drops, even the dreaded nebulizer treatments. He seemed to understand, “Okay, you weird humans are trying to fix me — I’ll allow it.” And allow it he did, with the patience of a saint.
Fast forward through eye surgery and dental work (he now rocks a crooked little smile with only two canines and the cutest tongue blep), and Terry transformed. Suddenly, the scruffy stray became… a teddy bear.
Now here’s Terry in his golden era:
He knows his name and comes when called (especially if kisses are involved).
He doesn’t just purr, he lets out little sighs of happiness, like he still can’t believe bedtime snuggles are real.
When you hug him, he melts into you like a koala bear, pressing his head into your chest and trying to hide in your arms. He’ll even look up slowly with big eyes full of love and amazement when you sweet-talk him.
He loves catnip toys, feather wands, and cozy naps on his little couch.
He coexists peacefully with all his foster friends and he especially loves the kittens. He’ll play with them when they invite him, and when he’s not joining in, he’s perfectly content just watching them bounce around like his own personal comedy show.
He’s hilarious: call him, and he’ll sprint to the bed and flop down dramatically, ready for his snuggle session.
He even enjoys car rides and Cat TV!
Everyone who meets Terry says the same thing: he is impossibly gentle, endlessly sweet, and absolutely adorable. He has that rare energy that makes you stop and say, “Wow, this cat is special.”
Terry is about 5 years old, neutered, microchipped and up to date on his vaccines. He has a clean health bill and his eyes have fully recovered. He tested negative for heartworms and Felv. He is FIV positive
And about that FIV: Cats with FIV can live long, healthy, happy lives indoors, especially when they’re cared for and loved. It’s not spread through cuddling, grooming, sharing food bowls, or play — only deep bite wounds. And Terry? He’s far too gentle for that.
