My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Maximiliano was found wandering the streets as a stray in Stanislaus County in July and was taken to the shelter. He was not microchipped and his owners did not come in to reclaim him.

The shelter described Max as "very sweet, high energy dog. Loves the pool and running around the yard. Walks great on the leash. Needs some training. Has a tendency to jump on people. Did good with a female dog and great off leash with a male dog".

Although he was a "staff favorite", by Sept, he was scheduled to be euthanized. With no time to spare, Max was saved and is now being fostered in Dixon. He has a couple of two-legged brothers and a four-legged sibling to hang out with along w/some kitties.

In-lieu of an in-person HV, we will accept virtual HVs via photos, videos, Facetime, etc.

Approve Application

If a Potential Adopter rents, we do require a Landlord Agreement (LLA) form prior to completing a HV.

5.
Meet the Pet

We try to schedule the M & G in a location convenient for all parties involved.

6.
Sign Adoption Contract

All parties (husband and wife, boyfriend and girlfriend, etc.) will be required to sign the Adoption Agreement

7.
Pay Fee

Our Adoption Fees are: $350 for Puppies (up to 12 months) $300 for Adult dogs (1 - 8 years) $200 for Seniors (> 8 years)

Additional adoption info

Puppies under the age of six months old are not eligible for adoption until they are spayed/neutered. Puppies are maintained in foster homes until they are fully vetted.

Our Adoption Counselors work with potential adopters. Adoption Counselors can assist in one or more of the following areas:

Interacting with potential adopters at adoption events or over the phone to find out what type of dog they are looking for
Conducting home visits to make sure a prospective home is safe for the needs of a rescue German Shepherd Dog
Bringing adopters in touch with foster homes that have dogs that may be a good fit
Helping adopters complete any necessary paperwork
Sharing information about dog care and training
Following up with adopters by phone once they have adopted a rescue dog

Our mission is to find loving homes for German Shepherd Dogs in need of a second chance and to educate the public about this highly intelligent and versatile breed.

Most of the dogs in our program come from Central Valley animal shelters where they have run out of time. We place them into foster homes to assess their needs and gives us time to fully vet them. And then we find perfect fit adopters throughout Northern California..
