My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

***BONDED PAIR CANNOT SEPARATE*** Gizmo is an adorable, quiet, 12 year old mostly blind Terrier mix. He needs time given daily for feeding, ensuring he drinks enough, outdoor exploring, and eye medication which is very important. He depends on his sibling Bonnie at times to know where to go outside and they play great together supervised in a fenced yard. Even without her he will explore the whole house and yard and roll in the grass, he is a joy to watch! NO doggy doors for this pair due to his condition. Gizmo will need his Optimmune eye gel 2x every day, this is important--due to previous severe jaw pain he will snap or growl at you during this even though the pain is gone now so it takes patience and snacks. The snappy is a behavioral tool and he will work his way out of it in time. Gizmo has learned an adorable trick for a "snack", you'll love it! They sleep together in a large crate with blankys and their stuffed animals but must eat separately or sis will eat his, lol. A decent size closed crate will be needed for this pair because his sister tends to hog and also so that no wandering happens at night. Gizmo will fall off a bed or wander into tables, get tangled in cords etc. Gizmo is a daily reminder of what we take for granted but he is active if allowed to be. He just had a full dental done, a thigh tumor and eye mass removed. Like his sister he adores ice cream, anything cheese and Little Jacs treats! Gizmo is pad trained once he learns where the large pads are. Come meet this pair in Aurora.

Go meet their pets

Over 75% of our dogs are in foster homes along the front range. The foster will get in touch to schedule meetings for their foster dog. Meetings will happen in/near their homes since that is where the dog is the most comfortable. We do want you to bring family members (human and dog) to the meeting! Dogs who are currently at our Windsor facility will have meetings there and a volunteer will reach out to schedule those meetings with you. Please be aware that we do not place our dogs on a first come, first served basis, but rather a best-fit placement. Never fear, applications are valid for a year so if the first dog you meet isn't a good fit, we will have plenty of time to find one that is.
