My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mozzarella Asiago (formerly known as Kasmera) is a spunky gal who initially came to ACCT as a stray in September 2025 and was adopted in October. Unfortunately, despite being a confirmed snuggler, Mozzarella was returned to the shelter due to incompatibility with other dogs in the home. She's eager to start her new chapter - especially in a home where she can have all the toys and treats to herself!

BEHAVIORAL NOTES:

Per volunteer 12/26: First time out with mozzarella and she's a very sweet well behaved girl .she likes getting outside and she's a nice consistent slow medium runner BUT she's only 47 pounds, with a low center of gravity and NEVER jumps, she stays on the ground all the time . If this is the norm for her, I tbink she'd never knock kids over . She has a very nice look and looks up at me in the face like she's asking me to continually take her put of her kennel .

Per Mozzarella's surrender notes, "Mozzie is a lover girl and will follow you around and snuggle up at night with you! She is mouthy, and in need of manners, but she has so much potential. She would love to be the only animal, and never have to share her toys again!" Her owner noted, after having her for two months, that they'd begun to notice what they described as Mozzarella becoming "aggressive to the point I can’t have her in the same room as my other two smaller rescue dogs". When prompted to describe any behavioral concerns, they stated: "Too much energy/gets overstimulated, Separation anxiety when home alone, Destructive of items in home/chews things, Mouthing or play biting, Pulls too hard on leash, Possessive of food (food guarding), Possessive of toys/items (resource guarding), Reactive/aggressive towards other dogs." They noted that Mozzarella went on "No walks - they spend time outside in the yard" for "10 minutes or less" at a time. They noted that Mozzarella is "mostly housetrained", "Will go in crate if needed but cries/whines/barks", that she sleeps on the bed with her owners, and her favorite activities include: "Napping, Hanging out with owners, Independent playtime with toys, Being petted, Snuggling/cuddling with owners".

Behavior eval 9/13:
Kennel Presentation: Kasmera was at the front with soft eyes and a wagging tail. she sniffed the leash curiously and allowed me to place it overhead.

Leash Skills: pulls minimally

Sociability: Kasmera was very bouncy and athletic. She climbed over everything and hopped around. She allowed all handling and was super wiggly and loose. She can be very rowdy and mouthy but nothing concerning other than a wild and playful puppy. She is a bull in a china shop but is overall sweet and will sit for treats.

Play: engaged in play

Dog Interaction: n/a

Return to Kennel: needed encouragement into kennel

Behavior memo, 9/13 Kasmera had her hackles raised and a high flagging tail. She was steerable and nervous as she entered the yard. She was avoidant of the dogs and more handler orientated. She was tense and stiff for dog greetings but disengaged and was tolerant.

MEDICAL NOTES:
