My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tyrian and Unk are a truly special pair of kitties. Could they be YOUR special ones?

Tyrian, a grey tabby and white boy, is the happiest snugglebug in the world. He will purr the moment you start paying attention to him and give you unlimited kisses throughout the day.

Tyrian was born with swimmer syndrome which prevents him from using his back legs normally. This doesn’t slow him down one bit though, as he zips around from one end of the room to the other in an instant to find his cherished toys, his best friend Unk, or his favorite human (that could be you!). Although a full recovery can be difficult at his current age, he has been showing consistent progress in gaining strength back in his legs while in foster care.

Unk, a brown tabby and white girl, may have the cutest face in the world with her ginormous eyes. Her favorite activities include chasing her best friend Tyrian and chasing any mysterious spirits present in the room (she promises they are there). While she might take a moment longer than Tyrian to adjust to new environments and people, she will soon be asking for belly rubs and showcasing her adorable crazy antics in full.

Tyrian and Unk are looking for a forever home together! We are happy to speak to any potential adopters about Tyrian’s special needs.

More about this rescue

Our rescue group was formed in December 2007, but all our Board Members have had extensive experience rescuing and working with abandoned animals. We often work with other rescue organizations to find appropriate and safe foster and adoptive homes for our pet clients. We regularly go to areas with abandoned animals and collect them. The animals are taken to a licensed veterinarian examined, treated and spayed or neutered. Every effort is made to work with the animal and our foster and adoptive families to find a suitable forever home.

For those animals who are truly wild and feral, we release the animal in a safe and secure location after it has recovered from its medical treatment. We also work with certified wildlife rehabilitators to rescue injured and orphaned wildlife. Our organization is focused on improving the welfare of the abandoned animals in need of help in Brooklyn. In furthering that goal, our resources are focused on the animals.

Aside from a few minimal overhead costs such as our website and phone services, our entire budget is spent on animal care such as medical and food costs.
