My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jelly is a gentle, well-mannered little sweetheart who’s just starting to come out of her shell. She may be cautious at first, but with patience and love, she blossoms more each day. Jelly adores face rubs and pets, and she’ll happily curl up in your lap for a cozy hangout—though she's not a fan of picked up yet. Jelly loves playing with wand toys or with her brother. She is looking for a home with someone kind and patient who will give her the chance to keep growing into the affectionate, loving cat she’s meant to be.

Additional adoption info

Interested adopters can meet cats and kittens at our adoption center at 160 E El Camino Real inside of Petco in Sunnyvale, CA. Currently, meet-and-greets are primarily by appointment until we have our official opening later this summer and have regular hours. Meet-and-greets can also be scheduled at foster homes. During this time the potential adopter can ask questions and have a conversation with the volunteers showing the cats or kittens to learn more about the animals and their care.

After the meet-and-greet, an adopter can move forward with the process by completing a pre-adoption survey at bayareacats.org/adopt (this can also be completed prior to the meet-and-greet). An adoption counselor will meet with the adopter to go over the cat’s medical and treatment history, future vaccination due dates, and diet. The adoption counselor will also provide education on additional topics indicated by the adopter in the survey, such as the initial confinement period (“sanctuary room”), cat-to-cat introductions, safe-outdoor access, etc. The adoption is then processed via mobile checkout and all information is emailed to the adopter for a paperless experience unless otherwise requested. Most adoptions are completed same day!

More about this rescue

Our mission is to decrease the number of unfixed cats in the community. Bay Area Cats is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our organization provides resources and enables the community to do trap-neuter-return (TNR). We spend time training, educating, rescuing kittens, and assisting with TNR efforts. We help connect people to spay/neuter resources and support those with financial need.

In 2025 we officially opened an adoption program to help place friendly cats and kittens in forever homes!
