Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Cookie Monster and Smokey Joe are two lovely, mature bonded cats looking for their forever home! Smokey Joe is 16 and Cookie Monster is 15, but these two are still spry and full of affection to share.
Smokey Joe is a stoic gentle giant! He loves grooming himself in the sun after morning patrol. This guy is definitely food-motivated! He is not afraid to remind you that it is time for a snack and although he is normally slower paced, he hustles to the sound of food and treats!
At night, he splits his time between sleeping at the foot of his foster mom's bed and curling up on the couch listening to calming music. Smokey Joe loves affection, getting brushed, and relaxing on his foster mom's chest for morning cuddles. He has a calming and resilient presence.
His bonded bff Cookie Monster takes her time warming up, but when she does, she will be your constant companion! She sleeps right next to her foster mom at night and seeks out attention and affection.
This lovely lady enjoys swatting at hanging toys and pouncing on little catnip mice! She maintains her figure with morning and evening sprints, which allows her to lounge in all her splendor for the remainder of the day. She stays busy by keeping watch over the neighborhood wildlife while also supervising house business from atop her cat tree. This gal is a purring ball of beautiful fluff!
Both of these sweet cats are very relaxed the majority of the day. They can both display short bursts of energy but would do best in a peaceful environment with lots of love and reassurance.
Cookie Monster and Smokey Joe currently live with their foster mom in an apartment. They will thrive in a calm home that is primarily composed of adult/s or adult/s with gentle, cat-savvy older children who can respect feline boundaries. They haven’t met any other cats or dogs at this point.
These two sweethearts are up to date on medical check ups and vaccines. They will both require regular routine vet appointments. Smokey Joe has stable, stage 2 kidney disease that only needs regular monitoring for now; he has also had several incisors removed so will need only soft/wet food. Cookie monster requires frequent brushing to keep her lustrous long coat free of mats.
These two are such lovely kitties and are so ready to make the most of their golden years. Both Cookie Monster and Smokey Joe deserve to thrive together in a calm, loving home with lots of attention! Could that be with you?

Please note there may be additional follow-up visits.

Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

Our Vision
A Minnesota where all pets live in safe, loving homes.
Our Values
Excellence in service and care; community; integrity; innovation; perseverance; compassion; a rewarding place to volunteer
How We Help
Spay/Neuter Initiative Program: Providing support to end pet overpopulation in Minnesota
Owner Surrender: Providing a safe haven for pet owners
Foster: Committed to finding forever homes for cats and dogs
Phoenix Fund for Special Needs: Providing veterinary care for animals in need of healing
What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.
Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.
Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.
We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.
We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
