She weighs 24 pounds and her favorite activities are running, walks, toys, water, and car rides. She knows the sit, stay, no, and off commands. Despite her initial wariness around strangers, once she warms up, she`s all cuddles and affection. June Bug is house trained and still working on her leash walking skills. Her noisy lovable personality and love for play make her an ideal companion for active households. She was returned because she was too active for her family. While she`s a bit cautious around other dogs, she tolerates cats and prefers a home without young children as they tend to frighten her. Children in the home must be at least 12 years old. Pet Adoption Fees
CAP adoption fees include a variety of services - age-appropriate vaccinations, canine heartworm, and feline leukemia tests, spaying/neutering, deworming treatment, microchipping to name a few - the total value of which exceeds $450. These minimal adoption fees cover only part of each animal's stay at our shelter - please help us keep adoption fees low while maintaining the high quality of care for the animals in our charge by donating and/or volunteering.

Citizens For Animal Protection, founded in 1972, is committed to sheltering, rescuing, and placing homeless animals in loving homes; advocating respect and compassion for all animal life; providing humane education to prevent animal cruelty; and raising awareness in the community of the needs of animals.
CAP is proud to announce that through life-saving adoption and transfer programs and a lot of hard work, we have maintained a placement rate of over 93% for all homeless pets surrendered to our shelter in 2021. In 2021, CAP provided care for 10,260 animals; this includes animals surrendered by the public and transferred in from animal control agencies and rescue groups, animals already in the shelter and foster care program, feral cats trapped/neutered/returned and animals receiving vaccinations and other treatments in our low-cost vaccination clinic, The Cornelius Clinic.
